Our Story

Bani Rugs began with three brothers, but our connection to Moroccan rugs started long before we created the business.

Our family comes from Jbel Bani in southern Morocco, a region shaped by Amazigh culture, traditional craftsmanship, and generations of skilled artisans. Our mother used to weave rugs by hand, so we grew up seeing the patience, creativity, and hard work behind every piece.

To us, a Moroccan rug was never simply something placed on the floor. It represented family, heritage, and knowledge passed from one generation to the next.

Why We Created Bani Rugs

As interest in Moroccan rugs continued to grow around the world, we saw an opportunity to create something meaningful from the tradition we knew personally.

We decided to build Bani Rugs as a direct connection between Moroccan craftsmanship and customers looking for genuine, handmade pieces for their homes.

We did not want to create just another online rug store. We wanted to build a trusted Moroccan rug brand—one that offers authentic craftsmanship, carefully controlled quality, and dependable service while supporting the women who continue this tradition.

That idea became Bani Rugs.

Moroccan women have passed the art of rug weaving from mother to daughter for generations. Their skills, creativity, and dedication are at the heart of every rug we offer.

Because our own mother practiced this craft, we understand that a finished rug represents much more than its design. It represents days or weeks of careful work, from preparing the wool and setting up the loom to tying every knot and completing the final details.

Bani Rugs works closely with artisans and weaving communities in Morocco to help create sustainable opportunities for the women behind this work. Our goal is to recognize their contribution, reward the value of their craftsmanship, and help preserve the skills they carry forward.

Involved From the First Thread

We remain closely involved throughout the production process. Our team follows the work regularly, beginning with the selection of wool and other raw materials and continuing through weaving, washing, drying, finishing, and final inspection.

Before a rug becomes part of the Bani Rugs collection, we review its:

• Weaving and construction
• Pattern and overall proportions
• Texture and finishing
• Washing and drying
• Final appearance and quality

Our ateliers in Taza and Taznakht, together with our atelier and showroom in Rabat, help us stay connected to the people, materials, and processes behind our collections.
